L. B. Bexley has just approved planning  for this flatted scheme on Crayford Road for client Ash Properties Ltd.  The scheme regenerates a town centre brownfield site into 33 private homes (7 x 1-bed, 21 x 2-bed, 5 x 3-bed).  The site is between Crayford Road and the railway line, and takes advantage of a steep slope with ground floor parking and first floor amenity.

Planning has just been submitted for 59 homes for private rent for client Ash Properties.  It falls within the Rainham and Beam Park regeneration masterplan and the Beam Parkway Character Area. The scheme responds to existing and emerging contexts including a pedestrian link connecting the proposed Beam Park Railway Station with the application site.

Brent approve zinc-clad homes by tin tabernacle

L. B. Brent have just approved this proposal for 3 new homes within the curtilage of Cambridge Hall (tin tabernacle).  The scheme will fund repairs to maintain the Grade II listed Hall, which is currently on the English Heritage at Risk Register.  The contemporary zinc-clad facade creates a very modern intervention in a heritage context.

Construction commences on 18 homes and community space at Hoe Street

Construction has commenced on this mixed use scheme of 18 private homes and 280m2 community use for client DLR Property Development.  The redevelopment replaces a snooker hall SDPSA and the client are working to develop the space for  a local community arts group.

Planning submitted for 5 homes at Aldersbrook Road, Wanstead

Planning for 5 private homes has just been submitted on behalf of  client Earth Aldersbrook LLP.  The scheme comprises a pair of semi-detached family homes which complete the street frontage, and 3 homes in a converted and extended former outbuilding at the heart of the site.  Design of the contemporary new build elements heavily references the distinctive forms of the local vernacular.

Planning consent for 23 homes on Lea Bridge Road

L.B. Waltham Forest has just approved planning for this infill site scheme on Lea Bridge Road, Walthamstow. The scheme is for client  Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association, and comprises 23 affordable homes.  The brickwork facade is clad vertically at ground floor.

Lion Club construction completed

19th January 2017

Construction has just been completed on this new-build mixed-use development comprising an amateur boxing and youth club with 19 private homes above for Crondall LLP.  The Lion Club is situated in a residential area of Hoxton opposite St. Johns church (Grade II* Listed), and school.  The new building replaces the former dilapidated 1960’s premises.

Waltham Forest grants planning for 31 homes on Wood Street

L. B. Waltham Forest has just approved planning for this redevelopment scheme for client Courtenay Investments Limited.  The 29 private homes comprise 27 flats, 2 Houses (7 x 1-bed, 17 x 2-bed, 5 x 3-bed), and 179m2 of community space.  It is the first phase of  a redevelopment of the larger industrial site.

Planning has just been approved for this conversion, restoration and extension of an existing locally listed building in Leytonstone for client PPR Estates.  The proposal for accommodates 9 private homes and includes a new-build  courtyard to rear.  The facades are clad with brickwork and western red cedar shingles.

L.B.Merton grants planning for Wandle Bank

Planning has just been obtained for 34 homes & 452m2 commercial space for Client PPR Estates Limited.   New dual aspect homes which interlock in section to create open plan kitchen/Living/Dining spaces replace existing industrial sheds on the site.  The design will reference the work of William Morris, who’s workshop was located nearby. Construction completed on Quest House, Croydon

Construction has just been completed on Quest House, for Family Mosaic, it is one of the first schemes to be completed within the Croydon Vision 2020 regeneration programme. This former 1970′s office building has been extended and re-clad to to create an office-to-resi conversion of 73 homes.  Materials used include limestone cladding and structural oak balconies.  More here.

Construction has just been completed on Beaufort Gardens, conversion and extension of an existing ‘Kensington Italianate’ building for Executec Limited.  17 bedsits have been transformed into 9 high quality open plan (Pied-à-terre) private self contained 1-bed 1-person studios.

Construction commences on Streatham retail scheme

Construction has started on our retail redevelopment on Streatham High Road for client PPR Estates. It was designed in collaboration with the proposed retail occupiers; refurbishment and redesign of the ground floor into into smaller retail units reflects current local demand.  The upper floor, previously used as storage, is being converted into a gym space for the proposed occupier.

Planning has just been submitted  for this mixed tenure 28 home scheme for client ROCA Investments Ltd.  It falls within Rush Common and Brixton Hill Conservation Area; a simple palette of brown bricks and glazed cream bricks with re-constituted stone detailing references local buildings, including the brick forms and stone banding of the adjacent pump house.

Planning has just been submitted for  8 3-Bed houses in Epping Forest for client ROCA investments.  The scheme includes clay tile hanging and articulated roof forms commonly found in the traditional local vernacular, but with crisp, contemporary details.

Construction has commenced on this scheme extends and convert a former public house to create 9 private homes and 888m2 commercial spaced for client Greenlanes Investments LLP.  SDPSA worked closely with Waitrose and their architects incorporating their internal layouts and materials and balancing their strict design requirements with sensitive treatment of the building.

Kilburn High Road PD scheme construction complete

Construction has just been completed on 15 x 1-bed private homes (12 conversion and 3 extension) office to residential conversion and extension for client Palmerston Securities Limited.  It follows a series of  planning applications for the Permitted Development and new build roof top extension.

Planning submitted for 4 homes on former Southgate Car Park

Planning has just been submitted to redevelopment this derelict car park into 4 private flats with amenity, for client Rovedale Ltd.  The two-storey L-shaped block occupies space created by the existing 1930s shopping parade.  The ground floor brick base and mono-pitched roof creates a dialogue between contemporary and traditional styles.

Courtauld Road shortlisted in Inside Housing’s Top 60 Developments

Courtauld Road  has been shortlisted in Inside Housing’s Top 60 Developments awards for Best Designed Development of the Year.  The mixed tenure scheme for Family Mosaic is part warehouse conversion and part new build  (39% private and 61% affordable).  SDPSA obtained planning in 2012 (construction by others).

Hackney has just granted planning for this canal-side scheme  for client GHL (Eagle Wharf Road) Ltd.  50 new mixed tenure homes,  5644m2 B1 and 127m2 A3 space have been created by converting and extending a Victorian warehouse and chimney.  The layout creates 2 landscaped courtyards, the larger of which opens to the canal.

The design respects the local vernacular and includes donating part of the site to the highway Authority to upgrade and create a formal site entrance.

Marcon Shortlisted in Housing Design Awards

We are delighted our recently completed Marcon Place is shortlisted in Housing Design Awards 2016.  The 21 homes were built for client Genesis Housing by contractor Kind Build.  It comprises 100% affordable homes (socially rented) and includes family housing.  Artist-designed screens and cantilevers were employed to fully develop this difficult urban site. http://ow.ly/4nmnbA

Courtauld Road wins BREEAM Residential Award

Courtauld Road has picked up one of the most prestigious awards in European architecture, following a public vote at the BREEAM Awards 2016.  The mixed tenure scheme for Family Mosaic is part warehouse conversion and part new build  (tenure split 39% private and 61% affordable housing).  SDPSA obtained planning consent in 2012 and construction was completed by others click for details

Construction completed at Manor Works, Ealing

Durkan have just completed construction of 44 homes for client Family Mosaic.   The design, comprising 50% Private and 50% affordable homes, references the local industrial heritage with materials such as brickwork and diamond pattern zinc cladding.  A secondary brick framework across the east elevation layers the facade and incorporates generous balconies.

Tower Hamlets grants planning for 60 homes at Dalgleish Street

Planning consent has just been granted for 60 new affordable homes in Limehouse for client Greenland Investments Limited.   The proposal is located on a disused brownfield site, previously used for storage by ENO, and comprises 9 x 1-bed, 24 x 2-bed 18 x 3-bed, 9 x 4-beds.
